It's not often we come across a fresh voice from the North East of England; The Futureheads, Field Music and Maximo Park are still going strong, but there's an alarming dearth of exciting new bands and vocalists breaking out of Tyne, Wear and Tees. Step forward Cape Cub.

The singer (band?) only has one track on his SoundCloud but we're already swooning over his command of simple, fluttering piano progressions on 'Lantern', each complemented by a shuddering vocal which quietly pangs with love and lost love. Keep an eye out for more music soon. - DC
